Compact Design, Big Performance

The EPC is a brazed plate water oil cooler, it’s a compact and lightweight oil cooler with a high cooling capacity compared to size. This lightweight and compact water oil cooler consists of corrugated channel plates sandwiched between the front and rear cover plates.

The heat transferring surfaces consist of acid-resistant stainless steel plates. Every other plate is turned by 180 degrees and placed on the preceding plate. The channels between the plates allow the media to flow counter current. By brazing the special plate profiles together the numerous contact points allow for very high operating pressures.The unique plate design provides high turbulent flow conditions throughout the cooler, the key to efficient cooling. This turbulent flow reduces the risk for clogging, which in turn makes this EPC virtually maintenance free.

EPC water oil cooler is ideal for use in stationary lubricating systems, hydraulic applications and an excellent choice for replacing shell and tube units on injection moulding machines. Where the minimum of space is required and the heat transfer capacity is very high.


EPC provides an oil temperature very close to the cooling water temperature, eliminating the need for an active cooling system in certain applications. The EPC design features result in a turbulent oil and cooling water flow, the key to high cooling capacity. This turbulent flow prevents clogging, a frequent cause of reduced heat transfer efficiency. The EPC cooler provides reliable temperature control of oils,  a condition for maximum performance.

Freshwater is vital for all life but the global supply is limited. Despite this, we continue to waste water. Obsolete technology is still used in systems for cooling oil with freshwater. But there is an alternative.

Plate type heat exchanger is the new technology available today, the hydraulic oil cooler of tomorrow. A technique which means that less of the world’s freshwater goes to waste.


Water and air, naturally occurring, environment-friendly and inexpensive are the coolants with which we work. Water oil coolers are used in the majority of stationary hydraulic systems because the cost is low, the cooler occupies little space and cools effectively. Because of its low cost, the water oil cooler can be over-sized to be able to cope with possible increased future cooling demands or peak loading due to, for example, clogging and impair system efficiency.


The EPC water oil cooler works with water inlet temperature which is often lower than room temperature. It can therefore be used to maintain the oil temperature. It can therefore be used to maintain the oil temperature at a very low level. It also withstands extreme environmental conditions. If the room temperature is too high, an air oil cooler may be unable to cool the oil satisfactorily and a water oil cooler is then preferable. Plate type water oil coolers ensure quiet operation and are more compact than comparable coolers using air as coolant.


Off-line circuits for cooling and filtration increase the service life of both the hydraulic system and the oil. A careful sizing of the water oil cooler also reduces cooling water consumption providing cost-effective operation and efficient use of resources. A turbulent flow reduces the risk of clogging as the cooler is continuously self-cleaning. The rugged construction of the PWO-cooler lowers the risk of contamination of the hydraulic oil with water.


Direct savings are obtained when a water oil cooler from Oiltech is installed in your system. And use can be made of the surplus energy resulting from the cooling process.
